Copper Cottage Bird Feeders

How It Works

The feeder includes a 40” copper pole with pipe thread fittings on both ends. The pipe flange supplied with the feeder should be mounted to the top of a 4x4, either redwood or cedar, that can be mounted in a planter or in the ground. The ideal length of the 4x4 is 36” above ground. The extra pipe flange supplied with the feeder should be mounted to the top of the 4x4 post, the copper pole screwed into the flange, the body of the feeder placed on the pole and the upper roof section screwed onto the top of the copper pole. The upper roof section should not be tightened all the way, no more than a couple of turns.

Loading the hoppers should be done with the body of the feeder resting on top of the 4x4. Once loaded, raise the feeder up to the upper roof section and place the pin through the copper pole. With the pin in place, rotate the feeder to the right until the upper roof section and the feeder body have sealed. To Reload the hoppers, rotate the entire feeder to the left about ¾ turn. This will provide sufficient clearance to push the feeder up and remove the pin. Lower the feeder to the top of the 4x4, refill, raise the feeder body back up to the upper roof section, replace the pin, and turn back to the right ¾ turn.

It is not necessary to mount to a 4x4 post. A longer copper pole can be ordered, that can be set into the ground in concrete or using the flange, mounted in a planter. This is an option available on request. All feeders are supplied with ¾” pipe flanges.
